Blues v Waratahs
Friday 25/4/14 @ 15:35

The Blues poor form continues but they are back on home soil and will be better without Benji Marshall who was of a liability for them last week. The Waratahs ground out a tough win over the Bulls with Folau again looking good but there are doubts over whether Kurtley Beale will be available. Beale was the Tahs most dangerous player last week and is often the one putting Folau into space so to lose him would be a huge blow.

Pick: Waratahs to guts out a win.

Brumbies v Chiefs
Friday 25/4/14 @ 17:40

The Brumbies should be fresh while the Chiefs have had a solid month and come off a bruising encounter against the Crusaders. The Chiefs defence was outstanding last week so the home side will need to bring their A game. The Brumbies will have extra motivation though in this re-match of the 2013 final and their freshness should see them through.

Pick: Brumbies in a close encounter in what is being dubbed as an ANZAC clash.

Sharks v Highlanders
Saturday 26/4/14 @ 3:10

The Sharks continue on their winning ways and actually threw the ball around a little more than usual last week. They will be desperate to build on their lead at the top of the points table and also to secure another home win before they begin an arduous travel schedule. The Highlanders are coming off a bye and will be well rested for this game. While I expect the Sharks to win the Highlanders should be better than the odds suggest and will make a close game of it.

Pick: Sharks head to head at home but punters might want to take the line (+~11 points) for the Highlanders.

Hurricanes v Reds
Saturday 26/4/14 @ 17:35

The Hurricanes look to be riding a wave of confidence now after a poor start to the year and will be hungry to attacks a Reds side sorely lacking in confidence. There has been some talk this week of All Black selection from Hurricanes players & media which is always a worry at this stage of the year. The Reds come off a rest and will need to win the game to resurrect their season. They will need a dominant effort from their forward pack and will look to keep structure to the game to contain a Canes side likely to toss the ball around and attack all day.

Pick: odds & form would suggest a home side win but Ill tip the Reds for an upset.

Force v Bulls
Saturday 26/4/14 @ 19:40

If Matthewson, Whykes and Morahan remain on the injured list this week I expect the Force will face a tough task covering for them again. While they played above themselves last week against the Rebels and will be better in front of their home crowd, I suspect the Bulls will up for this game after showing signs of improvement. The Bulls will be desperate to salvage some much needed points from this long tour and I feel they might sneak an away win here.

Pick: Bulls in a close upset.

Cheetahs v Stormers
Sunday 27/4/14 @ 01:05

This will be a tough local derby with the Cheetahs putting in a very physical display last start against the table topping Sharks. The Stormers though looks to have developed their passing game and now look capable of scoring tries as well as deliver solid defence each week. They also welcome back Schalk Burger to the bench which will be a big boost. While the Cheetahs will be tough at home, I am tipping the Stormers to cause an upset.

My pick: Stormers to win.
