Wests Tigers v Gold Coast Titans
Sunday April 27 – 3:05 PM (AEST)
With both teams on 10 competition points, this one shapes as the pick of the round. The Gold Coast Titans are still hurting after their two-point loss to the Penrith Panthers last week, while the Wests Tigers are flying high, coming from behind to beat the Parramatta Eels 21-18 in sensational fashion.
Errors and missed tackles let the Titans down on Monday. With 38 missed tackles, they put themselves under the pump early, letting Dean Whare over in the seventh minute. But with the resilience the Titans have shown all season, they came within just two points of stealing the victory. The suspension of Matt White brings Mark Ioane coming into the 17, with William Zillman (hamstring) still unavailable.
The Tigers also let themselves down with poor handling and defence on Monday against the Eels. A team that as of late have prided themselves of a high completion rate, the Tigers completed just 70% of their sets. But capitalizing on some Parramatta mistakes, the men in black and gold came back to win in front of more than 50,000 screaming fans at ANZ stadium. For the home team, Liam Fulton returns to the fray, replacing injured James Gavet (hamstring), who will be sidelined for a month.
At their spiritual home of Leichhardt Oval, Tigers are sure to give everything they have and more to make sure the Titans go home licking their wounds.
