West Coast Eagles v Port Adelaide Power
Saturday, April 19, 7.40pm (AEST)
Port Adelaide travel west to face the Eagles in a clash between two genuine title contenders. Both teams have three wins and a loss next to their names, but head into the Round 5 clash off two very different results.
The Eagles will be seeking to atone for a calamitous 75-point thrashing at the hands of Geelong last Saturday night. They fielded a side far from full-strength though and with the return of players Darren Glass, Matt Rosa and Luke Shuey, expect the Eagles to put up more of a fight in front of the West Coast faithful. Star player Nic Natinui has had an indifferent start to the season. The Eagles will be counting on the 23-year-old to find his feet soon, if they are to seriously contest for a top of the table position.
Ken Hinkley’s side's run into this game couldn’t be more different, thumping the Brisbane Lions last Saturday by 113 points. Port will be confident following that win and look to continue their momentum in this Perth hit-out at Patersons Stadium. Reigning club 'best and fairest' Chad Wingard will bolster the Port squad when he makes his return from an ankle injury sustained in round three. The Power will be without Jack Hombsch though due to hamstring soreness.
Sitting third and fourth on the table and level on points, this game really is an eight-pointer. As the betting market suggests, the wrestle in the west is shaping up to be the most even contest of the season, leaving punters and tipsters alike scratching their heads.
