Sydney man wins $1 million after scooping The Pools!

Tuesday 11 March, 2014 - A Sydney man is now a millionaire after scoring a first division win in The Pools, a NSW Lotteries game where the winning numbers are based on the results of local and international soccer matches.

The winner said he had a sleepless night after discovering he was $1,077,575.84 richer after winning division one and other divisional prizes in The Pools draw.

“I checked my numbers last night at home and when I realised I’d won The Pools, I was stunned!” the excited winner exclaimed.

“I had to ask a friend to check my ticket to make sure I hadn’t made a mistake. Once he said that I had won, I think he was more stunned than I was!”

The overjoyed winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he plans to pay off debts with his million dollar windfall and is looking forward to boosting his bank balance.

“I’ve only got about $80 in my bank account at the moment!” he laughed.

There was only one entry that scooped the entire first division prize pool of $1,075,311.89 in The Pools. The winning System 9 marked entry was purchased at Cleary’s Newsagency, 1133 Botany Road in Mascot.

The winning numbers in The Pools draw 1493 were 19, 26, 29, 30, 34, and 35. The supplementary number was 15.
