With the first leg of a last-16 tie against Barcelona mid-week, Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is prepared to risk his side’s FA Cup dreams and rest stars Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Yaya Toure and Alvaro Negredo for the meeting with Chelsea at Etihad Stadium. Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho are both out injured and resting players would leave the Sky Blues desperately short on quality troops for the grudge match against Jose Mourinho's Chelsea, who beat them in the Premier League earlier this month. City is likely to have French midfielder, Samir Nasri, back after six weeks on the sidelines nursing medial ligament damage.
There are reports Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is also looking to sit-out some of his big name players, even though the west Londoners don't play midweek. That's a clear indication Mourinho is prepared to throw everything at the next 12 League games in order to stay on top of the ladder and secure the Blues their first championship since 2009/10.
Chelsea has beaten Man City twice in League encounters this campaign – 2-1 at home in late-October and 1-0 at Etihad a fortnight ago. In fact, the Blue Lions are riding high on some hot EPL form, unbeaten in their past 11 matches, with eight victories.
Third on the League ladder, three-points behind Chelsea, Manchester City is still in the running in four competitions and believes there’s a realistic chance to win them all. However, it might be hard to not to look ahead to the clash against one of the most famous clubs in the world known as Barca. City though have shown their quality thumping Tottenham 5-1 recently and downing Newcastle 2-0.
