This is a chance for Sydney to show off its ‘Buddy’ at Blacktown on Thursday night. Former Hawk, Lance Franklin, missed the Swans’ 40-point win over Greater Western Sydney in Canberra last week. All the hype leading into this game has been about Buddy, after the 27-year-old super-star moved from Hawthorn to Sydney on a nine-year, $10 million deal during the off-season. In nine seasons with the Hawks, Franklin played 182 games and kicked 580 goals, his best haul of 113 came in 2008.
The Sydney-siders have also included speedster Lewis Jetta, ruckman Mike Pyke and the experienced Lewis Roberts-Thomson. Co-captains Kieren Jack and Jarrad McVeigh along with other leaders Josh Kennedy, Ben McGlynn and Ted Richards have been rested.
After thrashing Fremantle by 84-points in the opening week, the Eagles are soaring under new coach Adam Simpson. Andrew Gaff’s inclusion is sure to strengthen West Coast’s midfield.
