Held back by coach Nathan Buckley in week one of the pre-season competition, Dane Swan is ready to appear for Collingwood for the first time under match conditions this season in Wangaratta. Tyson Goldsack, Nathan Brown and Ben Reid have also been included in the Magpies’ line-up, while talented goal-sneak Alex Fasolo is also set to play his first game since round five last season when he suffered a serious knee injury.

Even though star forward Jack Riewoldt is again missing because of a minor quad problem, Richmond has opted for a relatively strong squad. Young midfielder Reece Conca has been selected after spending much of the pre-season in rehabilitation following hamstring surgery. After missing much of 2013 due to a serious knee injury, Chris Knights is also in line to play. Mature-age recruit Nathan Gordon is set to make his debut for the Tigers, who went down to the Demons 98-94 in week one.

The Pies are backing up after pushing a very experienced Geelong outfit in the first of ‘18 games in 18 days’. They go into this one without Nick Maxwell, Jarryd Blair and Dayne Beams. Key Tigers Dylan Grimes, Daniel Jackson, Ivan Maric and Chris Newman are recovering from injuries and will be saved for the club’s premiership opener against the Suns.
