Thursday 9 January, 2014 - The $10 million Oz Lotto prize won on Great Ocean Road has been claimed!
The Victorian winner contacted Tatts today to solve the mystery of Australia’s newest Oz Lotto millionaire.
“I bought the ticket after a day at the beach because I was feeling lucky…I’m shell-shocked!” the winner exclaimed.
“I never expected to be calling myself a multi-millionaire.
“There are a million and one things I could do with the prize money. I’ll buy a new car and go on holiday and speak to a financial planner about the future.”
The winner is reeling in shock today and has chosen to remain completely anonymous.
The division one winning Oz Lotto 12-game QuickPick entry was purchased from Ocean Grove Tatts & Cards, 72 The Terrace in Ocean Grove.
Ocean Grove Tatts & Cards owner Blair Dawkins said he could think of his own list of things to do with $10 million!
“I’d put in a pool and a tennis court at home!” Mr Dawkins laughed.
“I’d invest a lot of the prize money and make sure my family was comfortable. I’m quite frugal, but I would splash out on an overseas holiday.
“There’s such a buzz about this win around Ocean Grove. Every second person I’ve seen today has been asking if the Oz Lotto prize has been claimed,” Mr Dawkins added.
“I’m glad that the winner has come forward because they’re holding a very valuable unregistered ticket!
“I’m hoping we sell another winning ticket in tonight’s Powerball draw for $6 million.”
As the $10 million winning Oz Lotto entry was not registered to a Tatts Card, Tatts was unable to contact the winner following the draw and waited for the claimant to come forward.
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1038 on 7 January 2014 were 28, 17, 19, 14, 21, 20 and 29 with the supplementary numbers 1 and 45. Oz Lotto will offer a $2 million division one prize in next Tuesday’s draw.
Players have another chance to share in a major prize this week with Powerball’s $6 million jackpot tonight!
