Friday 24 January, 2014 - A winner who purchased their entry in Nowra will be celebrating this Australian Day long weekend after claiming a first division Powerball prize of $7.5 million in last night’s draw!
The regular Powerball player said becoming a multi-millionaire overnight was unbelievable!
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing when I saw the numbers on my ticket. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me or that I was checking the wrong numbers,” the winner said in disbelief.
“I kept checking my ticket over and over and over again.
“I play Powerball most weeks but didn’t ever think I’d win. I haven’t even had a chance to think about what I’ll do with my prize money, I’m still in shock.”
The winner said they will take some time to think about what they’ll do with their multi-million dollar Powerball windfall.
NSW Lotteries spoksesperson Elissa Lewis said the winning entry was not registered to a Players Club card so NSW Lotteries had to wait for the winner to check their entry and contact NSW Lotteries.
“Registering your entry to a Players Club card ensures players’ prizes are secure and we’ll also personally deliver the good news should their entry win a division one prize,” Ms Lewis said.
The Nowra winner purchased their 18 game QuickPick entry at East Nowra Newsagency, Shop 3, 104 Kalander Street Nowra. There were two division one winners in Powerball draw 923 on 23 January 2014 who will each claim a division one share of $7.5 million.
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 923 were 28, 9, 24, 14, 7 and 31 and the Powerball was number 11.
Tickets for Saturday Lotto’s $20 Million Superdraw on 15 February 2014 are now on sale from all NSW Lotteries outlets and online from Tatts.com.
