After being held to a shock 1-1 draw by Rovers at Ewood Park early this month, Premier League giant Manchester City  is a red-hot favourite to down the Blue and Whites at home at Etihad Stadium.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini believes the tense draw a fortnight ago was a fair result against a Championship team eager to impress against his glamour club. City may have the home ground advantage this time, but it will be without star midfielder Samir Nasri. The Frenchman suffered medial ligament damage after a tackle by Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa in a 2-0 win over Newcastle at St James’ Park last weekend. He’s expected to be sidelined for around eight weeks and miss at least 11 games.

Still, City is riding high on a crest of sensational form in the Premier League. The success at Newcastle saw the lads from Manchester become the first team to win six straight EPL matches this season. The Citizens are unbeaten in their last 10 games against Rovers, with six wins and four draws dating back to late 2007.

Blackburn boss Gary Bowyer was delighted with his team’s performance in the original tie against what he says is ‘a world class City team capable of winning every competition they’re in this season’. Currently eighth in the Football League Championship, Rovers’ last victory over City (1-0) came in September 2007, while earlier that year they eliminated the Sky Blues from the FA Cup 2-0 .
