Monday 13 January, 2014 - One NSW Lotteries customer has made history at the Sydney Opera House on the weekend as he and his wife became the first hotel-style guests to stay overnight in the iconic building!
Des from Drummoyne whisked his wife away for a luxury weekend thanks to winning NSW Lotteries’ Saturday Lotto ‘Make The Opera House Your House’ promotion just by purchasing a Saturday Lotto ticket in selected draws.
NSW Lotteries spokesperson Elissa Lewis said Des won himself an overnight stay for two at the Opera House in a luxury suite created by Sofitel Sydney Wentworth with prime views overlooking Sydney Harbour, an exclusive dinner and show tickets to La Soirée, a private backstage tour, exclusive lunch for eight friends and $2,000 spending money.
“Never before had the Sydney Opera House offered the opportunity for a guest to stay overnight in a specially built hotel room inside the iconic landmark,” Ms Lewis said.
“The unique weekend experience was made possible thanks to NSW Lotteries’ exciting partnership with the Sydney Opera House to celebrate the international icon’s 40th Anniversary.
“NSW Lotteries has a proud history with the Sydney Opera House which dates back to 1957, when tickets in the first Opera House Lottery draw went on sale to fund the construction of the internationally recognised landmark.
“To be able to offer one of our customers this unique opportunity that has been recorded in the history books was just incredible!” Ms Lewis added.
Des, a theatre aficionado, said it was so nice to get a call from NSW Lotteries with the news of his unexpected win.
“My good wife and I have been married for 44 years and we were really looking forward to this unique and special experience at the Sydney Opera House. It was just wonderful!” the winner Des said.
