Feature Race Preview - September 7

Makybe Diva Stakes (MR6) – Reigning Melbourne Cup favourite Puissance De Lune heads a stellar field for this event, which will be run at Group One level for the first time. Darren Weir’s grey has won seven of his ten starts in Australia and was ultra-impressive in taking out the P.B. Lawrence Stakes at his reappearance. He is a deserved favourite but meets a strong field. Perth star Mr Moet is one of eight Group One winners in the field and has a good record fresh, winning three from five first up including the Railway Stakes at Ascot last year. He was less than a length behind retired star All Too Hard over 1400m fresh during his last campaign and is a knockout hope at long odds. Sea Moon is yet to race in Australia but has top level form in the UK and will be in the finish if he is anywhere near his best, while Foreteller was strong to the line last time out over 1400m and will appreciate the step up in trip here.
Selections: Mr Moet, Puissance De Lune, Sea Moon, Foreteller

Chelmsford Stakes (SR7) **TattsBet $123,768 Trifecta Jackpot** - Sydney’s premier trainer Chris Waller has six runners in this contest with Beaten Up probably the pick of his contenders. The Doomben Cup winner was scratched from the Makybe Diva to run here and is well placed over the mile second up from a spell. He ran a huge race to finish fourth in the Warwick Stakes on his reappearance and may need luck from an awkward alley but is the one to beat if there is any pace. Veyron won the Warwick Stakes last time out and will again run well on the speed from a good draw, while Bayrir and Metal Bender can be in the finish if they improve on their first up runs.
Selections: Beaten Up, Veyron, Metal Bender, Bayrir
