Mark Kavanagh’s unbeaten superstar Atlantic Jewel  will be bidding to extend her unbeaten record to ten when she lines up in a strong renewal of the Underwood Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday afternoon. The five year-old mare returned from a 16 month injury layoff with a devastating first up win against several of these in the Memsie Stakes at the top level here three weeks ago before taking out the Group Two Stock Stakes against her own sex at Moonee Valley last Saturday and is clearly the one to beat. She is one of three representatives for the fairer sex, with New Zealand Derby winner Silent Achiever  and Victoria Oaks heroine Dear Demi  the others.

It’s A Dundeel , Green Moon , Happy Trails , and My Quest For Peace  were all well beaten by Atlantic Jewel in the Memsie Stakes but take their chance against her again as they continue their preparations for bigger goals deeper into the carnival.

The Makybe Diva Stakes at Flemington is the other key lead-up event for this, with seven of these gallopers coming through that race over a mile two weeks ago. Foreteller  upset Melbourne Cup favourite Puissance De Lune  at Flemington on that day and will be looking to rain on the grey’s party once again, while Ethiopia  and Manighar  weren’t beaten far in the bunched finish. Dual Group One winner Mr Moet  will be looking for his first victory outside Western Australia after a luckless run at Flemington last time out where he finished alongside 2011 German Derby winner Waldpark . Highly regarded import Sea Moon  lost any chance of being competitive when he slipped coming out of the barriers in that contest but is expected to run well here.
