Monday 2 September, 2013 - A Great-grandmother in Tasmania has fulfilled her late husband’s lifelong dream to win the lotto after claiming a first division prize of $715,471.82 in Saturday’s TattsLotto draw.
The winning pensioner said she was shocked to receive the official winner’s phone call from Tatts this morning to share the good news of her windfall.
“I’m a bit flabbergasted! My husband who passed away years ago used to play TattsLotto every week. I still play with some of the numbers he left me,” the woman said.
“He always dreamed of winning and getting that big TattsLotto cheque.
“I think he’s probably looking down on me today with a smile on his face.
“I never thought I actually would win. I truly don’t know what I’ll do with the money.
“I’m getting on in years so I don’t really need anything. At my age you just plod along!
“I’d like to help my children with their mortgages and I’ll think carefully about how to use the rest of the prize money,” the winning woman said.
The winning Saturday TattsLotto entry was purchased from Ulverstone Lucky Lotto, 28 Reiby Street in Ulverstone, Tasmania. The winner has chosen to remain anonymous.
Throughout Australia, there were six entries that won a first division share of Saturday TattsLotto’s estimated $4 million division one prize pool, worth $715,471.82. Along with the winning ticket purchased in Tasmania, one winning entry was sold in Victoria, one in Queensland, and three were purchased in Western Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday TattsLotto draw 3351 on 31 August 2013 were 39, 18, 15, 41, 28 and 26 with the supplementary numbers of 11 and 42.
