Thursday 19 September, 2013 - A Cessnock retiree got the shock of his life when he checked his Saturday Lotto ticket today and discovered it had won him more than $470,000!
The stunned winner, who has asked to remain anonymous, admitted he wasn’t aware NSW Lotteries had been looking for a mystery unregistered winner in the area.
“I didn’t know until I got here,” the shocked winner said.
“This is great! I’ve lived in the hope of winning lotto!”
The winner, who won division one and other divisional prizes totalling $472,474.05, said it was too soon to say what he’ll do with his Lotto windfall.
The winning ticket was purchased from The Vincent Street Newsagency, 90 Vincent Street in Cessnock.
NSW Lotteries players are encouraged to register their entries to a NSW Lotteries Players Club card because not only does it ensure their prize is secure, but it also means they can be contacted directly with the news of a big win.
Throughout Australia there were nine entries that won a first division share of Saturday Lotto’s estimated $4 million division one prize pool, each worth $472,444.65. Along with the winning ticket sold in Cessnock, a further two winning entries were purchased in New South Wales, four were sold in Queensland, and one each in Victoria and Western Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3355 on 14 September 2013 were 20, 28, 34, 11, 40 and 3 with the supplementary numbers of 25 and 39.
