Wednesday 18 September, 2013 - A couple from the Mornington Peninsula has claimed the $5 million jackpot from last night’s Oz Lotto draw!
The pair in their 60s had no idea that their entry had won a first division prize when they were contacted by a Tatts official this morning.
“I’ve spent lots of time in fantasyland thinking about what I’d do if I won Oz Lotto,” the winning husband said.
“But now you tell me we’ve won $5 million and I can’t think what I’ll do with it!”
The winners said an international holiday is a priority for them.
“We have a few things to tick off our ‘Bucket List’. The first thing we’ll do is go on a cruise on The Rhine in Europe. My wife always sees these great ships sailing past and says she’d like to be on one.
“We’ll also buy a house that we can leave to our children down the track.”
The winning marked 9-game Oz Lotto entry was purchased from Rosebud Plaza Lotto, K002 in Rosebud Plaza Shopping Centre, McCombe Street, Rosebud.
Rosebud Plaza Lotto owners Stephen Hadler and Julie Gowty are rapt they sold the winning entry.
“We’re stoked that the prize has gone to a local couple,” Mr Hadler said.
“We’ve only owned the shop for two months and didn’t expect to sell a winner so quickly! The man who sold us the outlet gave me a call this morning to congratulate us; he’s very happy.
“He had owned it for seven years before us and didn’t sell any division one lotto prizes in that time, so it must be beginner’s luck for us. It’s great news for our business and our customers.
“Hopefully we’ll have more winners in TattsLotto’s $21 Million Superdraw this weekend!”
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1022 on 17 September 2013 were 27, 8, 41, 31, 24, 9 and 44 with the supplementary numbers 13 and 38.
Oz Lotto will offer a $2 million division one prize in next Tuesday’s draw.
Players have more chances to share in a major prize this week with Powerball’s $30 million jackpot on Thursday and TattsLotto’s $21 Million Superdraw on Saturday!
