Monday 16 September, 2013 - A Bundaberg man in his early 60s retrieved his Saturday Gold Lotto entry from the rubbish bin after he discovered he’d won a share in division one worth more than $470,000!
“I’d cleaned out the cupboard and thrown away some old tickets including my Saturday Gold Lotto entry from the weekend,” the registered winner explained.
“I had to go through my wheelie bin to find the winning ticket. It was right on top so I didn’t have to dig through the rubbish!”
The shocked winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he’s now looking forward to retiring down the track.
“This win is going to make it nice and easy when I do retire,” the winner added.
This is the second Gold Lotto win for Bundaberg in less than six weeks after a $1 million division one winning entry was sold there in Wednesday Gold Lotto on 7 August.
The winning 24-game QuickPick entry in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw was purchased at McCrackens Newsagency, 115 Bourbong Street, Bundaberg.
Owners Neal and Denise Hinrichs were excited to discover they’d sold another division one winning entry in Saturday Gold Lotto.
“This is the third time we’ve sold a division one winning entry in the past 14 years,” Mr Hinrichs said.
“This is the largest amount so far although we’d like to sell first division in Powerball or Oz Lotto!”
Throughout Australia, there were nine entries that won a first division share of Saturday Gold Lotto’s estimated $4 million division one prize pool, worth $472,444.65. Along with the winning ticket purchased in Bundaberg, a further three winning entries were sold in Queensland, three were purchased in New South Wales, and one each in Victoria and Western Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3355 on 14 September 2013 were 20, 28, 34, 11, 40 and 3 with the supplementary numbers of 25 and 39.
There are more chances for players to win big this week with $30 million up for grabs in Thursday’s Powerball draw and Oz Lotto is offering a $5 million jackpot tomorrow night.
