Wednesday 7 August, 2013 - A local couple got the shock of their lives when they checked their Saturday Gold Lotto ticket today and discovered it had won them more than $830,000!
One of the stunned winners admitted he wasn’t aware Golden Casket had been looking for a mystery unregistered winner in the area.
“We didn’t know. We just thought we’d check the ticket. We’re ecstatic with the win,” he said.
“I’d say we’ve been playing those numbers for more than twenty years now.”
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said it was too soon to say what they’ll do with their windfall but he did say he’ll probably buy himself a boat.
“If it had been a bit more, I reckon I would have bought a pub!” the winner joked.
The unregistered winning division one ticket in Saturday Gold Lotto was purchased at Book Centre Newsagency, 34 Edith Street in Innisfail.
Owner Kerrie Teahan said the town has been buzzing with the news that a winning Saturday Gold Lotto ticket had been sold in Innisfail.
“Every time someone came in to check their ticket, I was holding my breath!” Ms Teahan said.
“We’re so excited that the winner has been found. This is our first division one win in the 20 years that we’ve had the shop.”
Golden Casket always recommends players register their lotto entries to a Golden Casket Winners Circle Card as it not only secures their prize, but also ensures they can be contacted directly with news of a division one win.
Throughout Australia, there were five entries that won a first division share of Saturday Gold Lotto’s estimated $4 million division one prize pool, worth $839,258.75. Along with the winning ticket purchased in Innisfail, a winning entry was sold in each New South Wales and Victoria, and two were purchased in Western Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3343 on 3 August 2013 were 37, 24, 30, 26, 1 and 14 with the supplementary numbers of 20 and 10.
There is another chance for players to win big this week with $20 million up for grabs in Saturday Gold Lotto’s $20 Million Superdraw!
