Ins and outs

(Magpies) – Collingwood’s Luke Ball has had injury worries across the season and a calf problem will keep him out for at least one week. Dayne Beams was a late withdrawal prior to the Eagles clash last week with a tight back, but he should be right for Sunday’s game.

(Kangaroos) – North Melbourne has included Scott McMahon, Leigh Adams and Taylor Garner in its 25-man squad.

Prediction

It’s hard to ignore just how good North Melbourne is on the fast track at Etihad Stadium, and just how average the team is away from the dome. It is just the Kangas’ second game at the MCG all season, although they did almost knock off Hawthorn there in round 5. The ‘Roos are 1-7 at other grounds this year, and their last two appearances at the ‘G against Collingwood have been nightmares; a 66-point defeat in 2010 was followed up by a 117-point hammering in 2011. The Magpies have hit some very good form at the back end of the year winning four of their last five, and they’ve only lost one of their last six at the MCG. Collingwood won the opening round clash between these teams by 16 points and there probably won’t be much more between the teams this time, given North is in good nick, too. Collingwood by 18 points  .
