The Warriors  may have lost two consecutive matches but coach Matthew Elliott has named an unchanged lineup for this week’s crucial clash with his former club Penrith  on Sunday afternoon. Two straight defeats have seen New Zealand drop two points out of the top eight with just four rounds remaining and they desperately need to beat the 13th placed Panthers to keep pace with the finals aspirants around them on the ladder.

Penrith will take the same 17 man squad that lost 26-4 to North Queensland into battle across the Tasman, with Sam McKendry, Sika Manu and Lachlan Coote all coming through their first game back from injury well. James Segeyaro returns to the bench after starting at hooker with Kevin Kingston at lock against the Cowboys, with Ryan Simpkins named in the number 13 jersey.

Prediction

The Panthers thrashed New Zealand 62-6 when these sides met in the western suburbs of Sydney in May, but plenty has changed since then. Before dropping matches against the Sharks and Sea Eagles in the past fortnight the Warriors had won seven of their past eight matches to show the competition what they can do on their day, while Penrith has now lost four straight. The Warriors are travelling much better than their opponents and can exact revenge for their embarrassing performance last time the pair did battle. New Zealand Warriors by 18
