The Raiders  have been dealt a cruel blow in the run to the finals with hardworking backrower Shaun Fensom set to be on the sidelines for at least a month due to a thumb injury. He has been ruled out of Canberra’s remaining regular season fixtures, starting with Saturday’s game against the Bulldogs , a match that Terry Campese will also miss after being ruled out with an eye injury. Joel Edwards comes back into the starting lineup in his place, while Jake Foster is on the bench for the Raiders, who have dropped out of the top eight with back-to-back defeats to the Storm and Roosters and will be desperate to bounce back returning to their home ground.

Canberra is not the only side set to be without key personnel in round 23, with Greg Eastwood and Sam Kasiano unavailable after picking up respective knee and hand injuries in the Bulldogs shock defeat to the Titans on Monday night. Dale Finucane comes into the run on side in place of Kiwi international Eastwood at lock, while Tim Browne, Martin Taupau and Lachlan Burr have been added to an extended interchange bench.

Prediction

The Raiders have the best home record in the competition this season (eight wins, one defeat) and have won three of their past four meetings with the Bulldogs, but need to bounce back from two consecutive defeats. The Bulldogs had themselves been travelling nicely before slipping up against the Gold Coast but will have to put in a much improved performance if they can trouble the Raiders at Canberra Stadium.
