Tuesday 23 July, 2013 - A retired Sydney man from the Southern suburbs has scored a first division win in The Pools, a NSW Lotteries game where the winning numbers are based on the results of local and international soccer matches.
The local man couldn’t stop laughing after being told that he was now $844,729.58 richer!
“Don’t tell me that! Are you pulling my leg? You must be pulling my leg!” the excited winner chortled.
“Nearly a million dollars! That’s an unbelievable number.”
The overjoyed winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, wasn’t too sure what he’ll do with his windfall but did know of one purchase he’ll be making.
“I’m going to buy myself a kitchen!” the happy winner announced.
There was only one entry that scooped the entire first division prize pool of $844,729.58 in The Pools.
The winning 6-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Southpoint Newsagency, Shop 2 in Southpoint Shopping Centre, 238 Bunnerong Road, Hillsdale.
The winning numbers in The Pools draw 1460 were 1, 11, 19, 20, 23, and 38. The supplementary number was 18.
