‘Change of fortune’ for pensioner after $100,000 win!

Tuesday 16 July, 2013 - A Hurstville pensioner couldn’t believe his eyes after scratching $100,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its $5 ticket at a bus stop!

The local man told a NSW Lotteries official that he was waiting for the bus when he decided to scratch the ticket he’d just purchased.

“When I scratched the Instant Scratch-Its ticket and realised I’d won, I immediately popped the ticket in my pocket for safe keeping,” the winner explained.

“However, I just couldn’t believe that I’d scratched $100,000 so I took it out of my pocket to have another look at it.

“I think I did that three or four times before I actually believed I had the top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket!

“It’s still hard to believe because I usually only buy the one type of Instant Scratch-Its ticket. This time though when I went into the newsagency and the owner asked me if I wanted the same again, I said ‘no I’ll have one of those $5 tickets’.

“This is a change of fortune for me after some recent ill health. I couldn’t be happier!”

The winning pensioner said he’ll think very carefully about what to do with his Instant Scratch-Its winnings but he is planning to do some repairs around his house.

The $100,000 top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its $5 ticket was purchased at Hurstville Lotteries, Shop 17 in Hurstville Central Shopping Centre, 225H Forest Road, Hurstville.
