Golden Casket celebrates 50th Edition of Instant Scratch-Its $5 Set for Life ticket!

Sunday 9 June, 2013 - Back when Queenslanders were counting down to the new millennium, Golden Casket introduced a new Instant Scratch-Its ticket that not only promised an instant top prize but also allowed the winner to be ‘set for life’.

Fast forward to 2013 and Golden Casket is excited to announce the release of the 50th edition of the game – the Instant Scratch-Its $5 Set for Life ticket.

Golden Casket spokesperson Elissa Lewis said this is a significant milestone for one of Golden Casket’s most popular Instant Scratch-Its tickets.

“Since Golden Casket introduced the Instant Scratch-Its $5 Set for Life ticket in 1999, winners have scratched their way to more than $50 million dollars in top prizes,” Ms Lewis said.

“Our very first Instant Scratch-Its $5 Set for Life ticket winner was a Tewantin man who shared the top prize of $50,000 a year for 25 years with his friend, who bought the ticket for him after his favourite football team lost a game.

“The winner said at the time that he thought his eyes were playing tricks on him when he scratched the ticket and saw three matching Set for Life symbols!

“Over the years, the top prize payment format has changed and included $50,000 a year for 25 years, $100,000 a year for 10 years, and the current structure of $250,000 a year for four years.”

A 2009 Instant Scratch-Its $5 Set for Life ticket winner recently told a Golden Casket official he is ‘set for life’ after receiving his prize of $200,000 a year over five years!

“I’ve been careful with my winnings. I’ve spent some of it on house renovations but the rest has gone in the bank,” the winner said.

“I’d always bought the Instant Scratch-Its $5 Set for Life tickets, but I still couldn’t believe my eyes that day when I actually scratched the top prize!

“I tell you it’s been fantastic seeing the bank balance jump up once a year. Now that I’ve received the final payment, I am disappointed it’s come to an end,” the winner joked.

The 2009 winner said he still purchases Instant Scratch-Its $5 Set for Life tickets in the hope of winning again!
