Three-time winner Lewis Hamilton will be bidding for his first victory of the season when the Formula One caravan rolls into North America for the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend. Although he has finished in the top five in five of the opening six races of 2013, the Mercedes driver is yet to reach the top step on the podium since the penultimate race of the season in the United States last year. The Briton has enjoyed great success in North America, having won the past two races in the USA and three of the five most recent Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal.
Compatriot Jenson Button is one of three other drivers set to face the starter who have won here in the past having finished first in 2011, while Fernando Alonso (2006) and Kimi Raikkonen (2005) have also tasted success here. Hamilton’s teammate Nico Rosberg will be bidding to add to his success at the Monaco Grand Prix at the end of May, while Sebastian Vettel can extend his advantage in the World Championship standing with a maiden success in Canada.
Australian Mark Webber collected his second podium finish of the season in Monaco and will want to better his seventh here twelve months ago, while Daniel Ricciardo will be happy to finish in the points , having done so twice already in 2013.
