Ipswich Cup Day Racing Preview June 15

Gai Waterhouse Classic (BR6) – Peron has always been highly regarded by connections and gets her chance to win a blacktype race for the first time in this event. She has come through the grades in impressive fashion and has failed to win just once in her six start career. Ideally drawn in barrier six, she should get a good run and is clearly the one to beat despite being untested on heavy going. Classics was well supported in a similar race to this at Eagle Farm last time out and was only beaten a length. She will find this much easier. Sharnee Rose and City Of Song also ran well in that event and will be in the finish here if they can overcome their wide gates.
Selections: Peron, Classics, City Of Song, Sharnee Rose

Ipswich Cup (BR7) **TattsBet $78,856 Trifecta Jackpot** - Voila Ici may have to carry 60kg and jump from the second widest gate, but he is clearly still the horse to beat in this contest. The Italian Group One winner was back near his best when finishing ahead of subsequent Brisbane Cup winner Moriarty in the Eagle Farm Cup a fortnight ago and will go straight to the front and be hard to run down with some give in the ground. Topping was the heavily backed favourite for the Toowoomba Cup at his last start but could finish only fourth with the impost of 59kg. With just 54kg on his back he will run well if able to reproduce the form that saw him finish 4th behind Quintessential two starts back. Planetarium looks too short in the market so it could be worth throwing some roughies in the exotics, including Dazzle Us and Secret Garden.
Selections: Voila Ici, Topping, Dazzle Us, Secret Garden

Eye Liner Stakes (BR8) – Conservatorium missed out on a run in the Stradbroke last week but should make up for that disappointment with a bold showing in this event. Although he hasn’t won for over a year, his recent efforts have been very good, with his second in the Group One Goodwood strong enough form to consider him a leading chance in this. Dances On Stars is the other really classy galloper in the field, having finished second to Sizzling in the Queensland Guineas last time out. He will get a good run from the inside gate and is on the minimum weight. Celtic Dancer is an absolute mudlark and will run well if the track is heavy, while Jetset Lad and Gundy Son are others that should get conditions to suit.
Selections: Conservatorium, Dances On Stars, Celtic Dancer, Gundy Son
