16 multi-millionaires created in Powerball draw!

Friday 3 May, 2013 - Sixteen Australians woke-up as multi-millionaires today thanks to their Powerball entries sharing in last night’s out-of-this-world $60 million division one jackpot!

Powerball’s total division one prize pool of $62,055,383.40 was split between two entries in New South Wales and Victoria, with one winner taking home $31 million, and 15 others claiming $2 million each from a store syndicate.

A Powerball player who purchased their entry in Sydney is $31,027,691.70 richer, but they might not know it yet! The entry is unregistered so all players in Sydney are encouraged to check their tickets today.

A syndicate in Melbourne will also share in a $31,027,691.70 first division prize. Fifteen players who purchased winning syndicate shares from Southland Lotteries in Cheltenham will claim $2,071,012.92 each.

One of the winning syndicate entries was purchased by a family man in his 40s from Oakleigh. Tatts shared the news of his $2 million windfall with him this morning.

“No, there’s buckley’s chance of that!” he said to a Tatts official when told he’d shared in the Powerball jackpot.

“I’ve never won a bloody meat raffle at the footy in my life!

“I’m going to pay off our mortgage now and give our three teenaged kids a kick-start in life by setting them up with property.

“I’ll also go on a holiday overseas to have a reunion with friends who’ve travelled far and wide and I haven’t seen for 20 years.

“I can’t wait to sit my wife down with a glass of champagne and tell her we won $2 million.”

The winning 15-member syndicate is operated by Southland Lotteries, Shop 3038 on Level 3, Westfield Southland in Cheltenham.

Southland Lotteries manager Sonia Harris said she couldn’t be happier for her customers.

“I didn’t even have a ticket in this syndicate, but I am elated! It’s good for our customers, it’s good for business and it’s great ahead of TattsLotto’s $21 million Superdraw next weekend,” Ms Harris said.

“We’ve just got to ride the momentum!

“This syndicate won with shares in a large System 7 entry which is the equivalent of 210 games. The tickets only cost them $13.00 each.

“I have to say, it might have been because of the lucky Buddha statue we have in our store. Everyone always rubs his belly for luck!”

The winning numbers in last night’s Powerball draw were 34, 37, 23, 10, 4 and 39 and the Powerball was number 20.

Tickets in TattsLotto’s $21 Million Superdraw on Saturday 11 May are on sale now! Why not add a ticket to mum’s card for Mother’s Day?
