Friday 3 May, 2013 - Someone in Sydney is walking around with a $31 million dollar winning Powerball ticket in their wallet or purse, and they may not even be aware of it!
A Powerball ticket purchased in Sydney’s CBD has won its owner a staggering $31 million division one share in last night’s $60 million draw.
NSW Lotteries spokesperson Belinda McDougall said whoever purchased the unregistered ticket has yet to come forward to NSW Lotteries to claim their prize.
“The winning entry wasn’t registered to a NSW Lotteries Players Club card so unfortunately we have no way of contacting the winner to let them know they are one of 16 new multi-millionaires!
“If you purchased an unregistered entry in Powerball draw 885 in Sydney’s CBD, we suggest you keep your ticket in a safe place and have it checked at a NSW Lotteries outlet or online at www.nswlotteries.com.au as soon as possible.
“NSW Lotteries players are encouraged to register their entries to a NSW Lotteries Players Club card because not only does this ensure their prize is secure, but it also means they can be contacted directly with the news of a big win.”
Powerball’s total division one prize pool of $62,055,383.40 was split between two entries in New South Wales and Victoria. Along with the unregistered ticket purchased in Sydney’s CBD, a 15-member syndicate from the Melbourne suburb of Cheltenham will claim $2,071,012.92 each.
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 885 on 2 May 2013 were 34, 37, 23, 10, 4, and 39 and the Powerball number was 20.
