Five time winner Tiger Woods will tee off at The Memorial Tournament on Thursday night (AEST) looking for his fifth tournament win of the year at just his eighth start. The world number one has been back to his best recently, having won the World Golf Championships, Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship since the start of March. The only event from his past four starts that he didn’t win was the Masters, where he finished in a tie for fourth behind Adam Scott .
Woods is one of nine former champions lining up at the Muirfield Village Golf Club and one of two players in the field to have won here on multiple occasions. Veteran Kenny Perry has been successful here three times, with his most recent victory in 2008, 17 years after lifting the trophy for the first time. 2010 winner Justin Rose has also finished in the top 15 on four other times, while Matt Kuchar will be hoping to go one better than his runner-up finish at Colonial last week. Although he is yet to win here, the 34 year-old has four top ten from his last four trips to Muirfield Village.
