Monday 27 May, 2013 - The small community of Blackbutt in South Burnett is celebrating after a 10-share syndicate won a division one prize worth more than $830,000 in the weekend’s Gold Lotto draw!
In addition to the first division win, the syndicate also won other divisional prizes, making the total prize worth $923,246.46 or $92,324.65 per share.
Dennis and Debbie Palmer are the owners of Blackbutt News who started the syndicate around seven years ago.
“When we were starting the syndicate all those years ago, we asked people to put in a few of their favourite numbers and that’s how we came up with System 10 entry,” Mr Palmer explained.
“We’ve been playing those numbers ever since but the most it’s won before the weekend was $600.
“This is wonderful news for everyone in the syndicate. The win is going to help a lot of people!”
One of the syndicate shares was purchased by a local retiree who is overjoyed with his Gold Lotto syndicate share win.
“You don’t know what this win will mean for me,” the excited winner said.
“It will make life so much easier. It’ll work wonders because now I can help other people too.”
The syndicate winner said while he’s planning to help family and friends, he might treat himself to an overseas holiday.
The winning System 10 marked Saturday Gold Lotto entry was from Blackbutt News, 41 Coulson Street in Blackbutt.
Throughout Australia, there were five entries that won a first division share of Saturday Gold Lotto’s estimated $4 million division one prize pool, each worth $831,755.16. Along with the winning syndicate entry from Blackbutt, two winning entries were purchased in New South Wales, and two in Western Australia.
