Thursday 23 May, 2013 - A Sydney man from the South-Western suburbs who went out to buy milk, came home $85,000 richer after purchasing a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its $4 ticket!
The elated winner explained to a NSW Lotteries official that he only bought the Instant Scratch-Its ticket on a whim after buying a bottle of milk.
“I had no intention of getting an Instant Scratch-Its $4 ticket because I usually only ever buy the $1.10 or $2 tickets,” the excited winner explained.
“When I went into the newsagency, the woman behind the counter asked me if I’d like to try a different ticket. I initially said no but I changed my mind and asked for two Instant Scratch-Its $4 tickets.
“When I got home, I grabbed a coffee and sat at the dining room table and began scratching the ticket and lo and behold it had the top prize!
“I just stared at the Instant Scratch-Its ticket and said, “This can’t be true. This can’t be right,” but it was. I’d won $85,000!
“This couldn’t have come at a better time for me. It’s been a tough few years and this will make my life a lot easier.”
The happy winner plans to pay off some debts and invest the rest of his winnings.
The $85,000 top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its $4 ticket was sold from Green Valley Newsagency, Shop 2 at 174 Green Valley Road, Green Valley.
