Monday 13 May, 2013 - An Ettalong pensioner has treated herself to a lobster dinner after winning $50,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The grandmother told a NSW Lotteries official that she wanted to celebrate her windfall so decided to have lobster because it’s something she couldn’t afford normally.
“It’s such an amazing win especially when you’re on the pension like me. One of my friends told me that this is what I deserve,” the excited Instant Scratch-Its winner said.
“It’s still hard to believe that I’ve won. I was only in the newsagency because my friend was buying a magazine. I thought I’ve got $2 here so I’m going to buy myself an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
“After I scratched it, I handed it straight back to the person behind the counter because I wasn’t certain I had won.
“They told me that I had in fact won a decent prize. I think it took a good five minutes and about three checks of the Instant Scratch-Its ticket before it sunk in that I’d won $50,000!”
The pensioner said that she will put the money in the bank but will spend a little on an upcoming trip.
“I’m going away in a campervan so some of the money will go towards making that holiday even more memorable. And of course I’ll spend a little on spoiling my grandchildren,” the winner added.
The $50,000 top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket was sold from The Entrance Newsagency at 185 The Entrance Road, The Entrance.
