Last year’s winner Second Effort  heads a capacity field of 16 runners for the Wangoom Handicap on day two of the ever popular Warrnambool carnival on Wednesday. The Colin McDonald trained runner has a tremendous record at the Warrnambool track and his win in the $150,000 feature event twelve months ago was his third from as many starts in the regional city. His form this preparation hasn’t been great but he has leading jockey Brad Rawiller aboard and has been set for this race.

Two time group one placegetter Wealth Princess  was beaten by a nose in this contest twelve months ago and begins her campaign aimed at the Winter Carnival in Brisbane here for local trainer Darren Weir. Another top liner galloper lining up in the race is That’s The One , who resumed down the straight at Flemington over an unsuitably short 1000m earlier this month. The four year-old was fourth in the Australian Guineas in 2012 and has two wins from three second up runs.
