Monday 8 April, 2013 - A Warwick pensioner found himself sifting through his kitchen bin when he discovered that his $5 non-winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket had won him $10,000!
The local man, who regularly enters his eligible non-winning Instant Scratch-Its tickets into Golden Casket’s Scratch eClub Monthly Second Chance Draw, was shocked to discover that the ticket he had discarded a day earlier had made him $10,000 richer.
“When I found out, I went from stunned to excited to panicked pretty quickly,” the winning man explained.
“I ran straight to the kitchen to fish the ticket out of the bin, luckily it hadn’t been emptied yet.”
The man has already used the money to buy some new furniture and said he will save the rest to help with his daily expenses.
“Being on a pension is difficult some weeks so this money will just make a huge difference.”
The $10,000 windfall is just part of the good fortune that Instant Scratch-Its have delivered the winner so far.
“Scratch-Its have been pretty good to me over the years. A couple of years back I scratched $10,000 on a $5 Crosswords ticket and now I have won $10,000 in the Monthly Second Chance Draw!” he exclaimed.
While overjoyed about his latest win, the local is convinced that his lucky streak isn’t finished yet.
“They say everything comes in threes so now I’m just waiting for Instant Scratch-Its to give me my third win!”
Every month Scratch eClub members are given the chance to turn their eligible non-winning Golden Casket Instant Scratch-its ticket into a winner. Scratch eClub is free to join and there are often a number of prizes to be won each month.
Players simply need to register as a Scratch eClub member online at www.scratcheclub.com/qld.
Golden Casket Public Relations Manager Elissa Lewis said Scratch eClub Monthly Second Chance Draws are a great way for members to have additional chances to win.
“Scratch eClub members just need to enter their eligible non-winning Golden Casket Instant Scratch-Its tickets into the Monthly Second Chance Draw for another chance to win,” Ms Lewis said.
Ms Lewis said that the pensioner’s story demonstrates why it is essential to hold onto your eligible non-winning Instant Scratch-Its tickets after you enter.
“Customers need to keep their original non-winning ticket to claim their prize so it is very important to ensure the tickets are kept in a safe place,” she added.
Scratch eClub members will have the chance to win $10,000 in the April draw.
