Wednesday 24 April, 2013 - Winning TattsLotto is a life-long dream for many players who fantasize about claiming a Division One prize, paying off their mortgage and enjoying life.
One man in Northcote did just that six weeks ago when he won a Division One TattsLotto prize of $404,818.02 on 9 March, which was boosted to $416,462.97 thanks to additional prizes won with his System 8 entry.
In a remarkable twist of fate, the same man won TattsLotto AGAIN in the weekend’s draw on 20 April!
The winner claimed a Division One prize of $662,891.11 from the weekend, but thanks to his System 10 entry he will take home extra divisional prizes for a total of $796,950.41.
This exceptionally lucky TattsLotto winner has won $1,213,413.38 in six weeks. That’s $1.2 million in just 1.5 months.
“I didn’t think I’d be speaking to you again so soon!” the winner exclaimed to a Tatts official today.
“My wife doesn’t believe me that it’s happened again. It’s hard to believe it myself.
“The last time I won TattsLotto, in March, I put that $400,000 prize towards the mortgage. Now I’ll be able to use this second win to renovate the house.”
The winner has chosen to remain anonymous, but said he and his wife will celebrate their extraordinary good fortune in private with a holiday.
“My wife and I will travel overseas somewhere. We have so many more options now and are looking forward to celebrating this TattsLotto win even more than the first one,” the winner said.
“I’ll still put on my regular TattsLotto ticket each week. It might just happen again!” he laughed.
The Northcote man purchased his winning System 10, marked TattsLotto entry from Normanby News & Lotto, 703 High Street in Thornbury, the same Tatts outlet where he bought his first winning entry in March.
Tatts spokesperson Elissa Lewis said a small number of TattsLotto players have won multiple times, but it’s very rare for Division One wins to occur so close together.
“In 2011, a group of co-workers won TattsLotto twice in 10 weeks, but the more common story is that a player might win twice over a number of years, with some wins occurring 40 years apart,” Ms Lewis said.
“The record for the most frequent TattsLotto wins by a single player would have to go to a man from Beechworth in Victoria who won TattsLotto three times in 2008!” she added.
Throughout Australia, there were six entries that won a first division share of TattsLotto’s guaranteed $4 million Division One prize pool on 20 April, each worth $662,891.11. The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 3313 on 20 April 2013 were 7, 10, 41, 34, 28 and 44 with the supplementary numbers 14 and 8.
