Southside man served up $100,000 prize with dinner!

Monday 22 April, 2013 - A local man who decided to have pizza for dinner ended up taking home $100,000 after scratching the top prize on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket while waiting for his order.

The elated winner was still shaking when he explained to a Golden Casket official that he decided to buy a couple of Instant Scratch-Its tickets to pass the time while he waited for his pizza.

“I had two $2 coins in my pocket so I walked into the newsagency and asked for a couple of Instant Scratch-Its tickets,” the excited winner explained.

“I scratched the tickets straight away and just couldn’t believe it when I scratched the top prize of $100,000. I went back into the newsagency and asked them to check it for me!

“Imagine if I didn’t have those two $2 coins in my pocket, I wouldn’t have bought those Instant Scratch-Its tickets!” the winner exclaimed.

Unable to claim his prize until the next day, the winner revealed he found a secure place to keep his $100,000 winning ticket overnight.

“I wasn’t going to let go of that ticket so I put it in my back pocket and went to bed with it safely tucked away.”

Now $100,000 richer, the Southside man says he’ll eventually work out what to do with the money and that may include going on an international holiday.

The winning $2 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased from Jackson Road News, Shop 19 at 344 Jackson Road, Sunnybank Hills.
