“Absolute fluke” wins family $1.47 million TattsLotto prize!

Tuesday 2 April, 2013 - More than one week after winning a first division share of TattsLotto’s $25 million Superdraw, a family has come forward to claim their $1.47 million prize in Ballarat!

The man who purchased the winning entry explained to a Tatts official today why he’d been sitting on the valuable ticket for so long.

“I knew I had the winning numbers after the draw last Sunday, but I was just too busy working to do anything about it last week, and then Easter happened. I didn’t want to create a fuss,” the winner confessed.

“Isn’t that crazy; working too hard to go and claim a prize worth more than one million dollars,” he laughed.

The winner said he isn’t a regular TattsLotto player, so was especially surprised at his good fortune.

“I absolutely fluked it!” the winner exclaimed.

“I don’t buy tickets often, but my father plays TattsLotto religiously. He’s always said I should have a go, he tells me I’ll be lucky.

“It’s been a dream of his to win for years, so I’ll certainly be sharing some of the prize money with him and other family members. They’d do the same for me.”

The winning 50-game QuickPick entry in TattsLotto’s $25 million Superdraw held on 23 March was purchased from Williams Newsagency Ballarat at 917 Sturt Street.

Tatts spokesperson Zoe Knobel said the selling outlet has had a run of good fortune this year.

“Williams Newsagency Ballarat has now sold two major TattsLotto wins exactly one month apart,” Ms Knobel said.

“On Saturday 23 February, a retired couple in Ballarat won a $512,531.51 TattsLotto prize from Williams Newsagency, and now another local family has won $1.47 million from the TattsLotto Superdraw on Saturday 23 March!”

Throughout Australia, there were 17 entries that won a first division share of TattsLotto’s $25 million Superdraw division one prize pool on 23 March, each worth $1,470,588.24.

There were seven winning entries in Victoria, along with four winning entries purchased in New South Wales, two each in Queensland and Western Australia, and one each in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

The winning numbers in TattsLotto’s $25 million Superdraw, draw 3305, on 23 March 2013 were 12, 13, 2, 30, 3 and 16 with the supplementary numbers 5 and 17.
