25-year-old man wins $250,000 prize in Alice Springs!

Friday 19 April, 2013 - A young man in Alice Springs is $250,000 richer after scratching the top prize on a $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket!

The 25-year-old winner said he couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw that he’d won a quarter of a million dollars.

“I thought I was being ‘Punk’d’!” the winning man told a Golden Casket official today, referring to a television show which plays pranks on unwitting suspects.

“I grabbed the Instant Scratch-Its ticket when I was buying a magazine from the newsagency.

“My heart nearly stopped when I saw the $250,000 prize. I didn’t think I’d ever be that lucky.”

The winner said he’s rapt with the prize and has a few different plans for how to use it.

“My fiancée will be able to start planning our wedding with the prize money. She’s been waiting for a couple of years since we got engaged. She has a budget now so I’ll leave all the planning to her!

“I’m more excited about choosing a new car,” he joked. “We’ll put a deposit on a house together too.”

The winning $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased from The Paper Shoppe, Shop 13 in the Yeperenye Shopping Centre, Alice Springs.

The winner has chosen to remain anonymous.
