Despite being perennial finalists in the past few seasons, many tipped that Manly  would struggle in 2013 but they have won four of their opening five matches and scored an emphatic 20-6 victory over the Bulldogs last week to suggest they remain a powerhouse in the competition. The Sharks  on the other hand have lost two on the trot and continue with the makeshift halves pairing of Chad Townsend and Jeff Robson with Todd Carney battling a foot injury.

1st Tryscorer

Since coming into first grade last season, Jorge Taufua  has been a revelation and his try scoring exploits to start 2013 have been nothing short of incredible. He has seven four pointers from his past four games and was the first tryscorer both last week against Canterbury and in round two against the Knights.

Michael Gordon  has easily been the Sharks most potent attacking weapon this season and will continue to press his claims for a rep jersey against the Sea Eagles impressive back three. The Sharks lose a lot in attack without Todd Carney and the former Panther will look to get himself more involved in his absence.

Prediction – Last week’s narrow defeat to the struggling Eels was a new low for Cronulla who still have the ongoing ASADA investigation hanging over their head. All is not right in the shire and Manly should be able to score their seventh win in eight matches against the Sharks here. Manly Sea Eagles 13+
