Lotto prize is best birthday present ever for Sydney boyfriend!

Tuesday 5 March, 2013 - A young man in Sydney is $584,085.18 richer thanks to a birthday present from his girlfriend that cost a tidy $15.75!

The man in his twenties received a 24-game Mega QuickPick Lotto entry from his sweetheart, which netted him a first division prize of more than half a million dollars on Saturday night.

“It was unbelievable,” the winning man said, still stunned when he spoke to a NSW Lotteries official today.

“We thought it must have been a mistake when we saw all six winning numbers on that Lotto ticket.

“Now I’ll have to get her something really nice for her next birthday – probably a Lotto ticket in a card as well!”

The winning man said he and his girlfriend will take some time to decide how to best use their windfall.

“I think we’ll leave the money in a term deposit for a little while, and then look at buying a house together,” he said.

The winner has chosen to remain anonymous.

The winning unregistered 24-game QuickPick entry was purchased in Sydney’s CBD from The Lucky Charm Queen Victoria Building Newsagency, Shops 84 and 88 in the Queen Victoria Building, George Street.

Throughout Australia, there were seven entries that won a first division share of Saturday Lotto’s estimated $4 million division one prize pool on the weekend, each worth $584,085.18. Along with the Sydney CBD entry, there were three winning tickets purchased in Victoria, along with two in Queensland and one in South Australia.

The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3299 on 2 March 2013 were 42, 18, 20, 13, 43 and 11 with the supplementary numbers 12 and 30.

The Lucky Charm Queen Victoria Building Newsagency also sold a first prize winning entry in the $5 Lucky Lotteries draw today worth $200,000, showing ‘lotto luck’ is still flowing freely in the Sydney CBD.
