Current Form (most recent first)

Knights -
Raiders - WLL

Newcastle  coach Wayne Bennett will be without several of his best players for the Knights match against the Canberra Raiders  on Sunday, with Beau Scott joining Kurt Gidley, Willie Mason and Dane Gagai on the sidelines after limping off with a groin injury in his side’s 34-6 win over the Cowboys. Danny Buderus and David Fa’alogo come into the starting lineup after being amongst the substitutes on Monday night, while Timana Tahu is on the bench after being a late withdrawal in round three.

After breaking their duck against the Dragons last weekend, the Raiders have named an unchanged line-up for this match with Blake Ferguson retaining his place at centre after returning from a club imposed suspension in the 30-17 victory over St George Illawarra.

1st Tryscorer

Underrated winger James McManus  doesn’t get the plaudits of some of his more illustrious teammates but there is no questioning his ability to find the tryline. He has already bagged three tries in as many matches this season and they were all at Hunter Stadium.

While you can question the attitude of Canberra star Blake Ferguson , there is no questioning his ability on the field. His try tally has reached double figures in each of the past two seasons for the Raiders and he will pose a real threat to the Knights at Hunter Stadium.

Prediction – Although they suffered a humiliating 32-0 defeat to Manly in week two, the Knights have shown the rest of the competition that they mean business in 2013 with Monday night’s 28 point win over North Queensland extremely impressive without some of their key men. They have won nine of their past eleven matches against Canberra in the Steel City and should build on that record. Newcastle Knights 13+
