Proisir can emerge from the shadow of his more illustrious stablemate Pierro with a win in the Randwick Guineas on Saturday. Narrowly beaten in the Group One Spring Champion Stakes by It’s A Dundeel in October at just his fourth start, the son of Choisir battled on gamely to finish third in the Hobartville Stakes on a heavy track first up this campaign and should have taken a great deal of improvement from the run. Rebel Dane tasted defeat for the first time when a nose behind Pierro in the Hobartville and is expected to run well again, while the fore mentioned It’s A Dundeel will relish the step up in trip to a mile having won at the top level over 2000m. Unbeaten Australian Guineas winner Ferlax is joined by Mick Kent’s promising High Shot in representing Victoria, while Ashokan backs up after finishing 2nd in the Canberra Guineas last Sunday.
New Zealand Guineas winner Sacred Falls lost his unbeaten record to Rebel Dane in the Royal Sovereign last month and is one of two runners for Chris Waller, while Peter Snowden has three in the race including AJC Derby hopeful Solemn and Sandown Guineas winner Tatra .
