Friday 15 March, 2013 - There were 155,031 winners drawn in last night’s NEW Powerball game who shared in a total prize pool of $3,573,779.95 across Divisions 2 to 8!
Golden Casket Spokesperson Elissa Lewis said the new Powerball game had delivered 155,031 winners around the country overnight thanks to the addition of the new Division 8 to the prize dividend structure.
“Thanks to Powerball’s new Division 8, there were 48,096 more winners in last night’s draw than there were in the last $3 million draw under the previous game matrix on 31 January,” Ms Lewis said.
“The new Powerball game was introduced last week and is already delivering on its promise of a bigger prize pool and more winners each Thursday.
“The first Division 1 winner from the new Powerball game was drawn on the night of the launch last week. The winner was a tradesman from Springvale South in Melbourne who said his $3 million prize might even help him find a wife!
“We expect to see even more winners sharing in the prize pool as the Powerball jackpot grows in future.”
The two Division 2 winners last night will each claim a $96,860.10 prize, while 110,135 Division 8 winners will pocket an extra $14.05.
There was no Division 1 winner in Powerball draw 878 on 14 March 2013. The winning numbers in last night’s new Powerball draw were 37, 5, 35, 30, 9 and 23 and the Powerball was number 18.
The first division prize pool jackpots to $6 million for next Thursday’s draw.
Under Powerball’s new game structure, players must select six winning numbers drawn from a barrel of 40 lotto balls where they previously had to select five from 45. They must also select the one Powerball drawn from a barrel of 20 lotto balls, where there were formerly 45 to choose from. It’s now even easier for players to find the Powerball.
