Panania pensioners win $1 million Lotto prize after “rough trot”

Thursday 21 February, 2013 - A pair of pensioners from Panania won a $1 million division one prize in Wednesday Lotto overnight!

The Great Grandparents were taken completely by surprise when they received the official phone call from a NSW Lotteries official early this morning to share the good news.

“Oh you are joking,” the winning man said.

“Hang on, my wife’s yelling out in the background wondering if we won,” he said as he turned away from the phone.

“We’re millionaires!” the man whispered excitedly to his wife.

“Thursday is shopping day and lotto day when we buy our ticket for the next week, so you’ve just beaten me to checking the numbers!” he said to the NSW Lotteries official.

The man said he’s not sure about how they’ll use their newfound fortune.

“I’ve been in a bit of ill health recently so it would be nice to take a holiday. We haven’t been able to go away for years.”

The man’s wife was in tears as she spoke about how much this prize money will change their lives.

“We’ve had a hell of a rough trot lately so this will make everything a lot easier,” she said.

The winning 14-game marked entry was purchased from Panania Stationers and Papershop, 74 Anderson Avenue, Panania.

NSW Lotteries spokesperson Zoe Knobel said there could be more happy winners in NSW this week.

“Players still have a chance to win big this week with a $15 million jackpot up for grabs in Powerball tonight!” Ms Knobel said.

The winning numbers in Wednesday Lotto, draw 3219, on 20 February 2013 were 22, 10, 29, 13, 3, 23 with the supplementary numbers 26 and 19.
