Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is set to ring the changes for his clubs FA Cup 5th Round match against Leeds on Saturday night (AEST), after criticising his players following their 3-1 defeat to Southampton at St Marys last week.
With the Citizens 12 points behind fierce rivals Manchester United in the League, the FA Cup is the only competition that they have a realistic chance of winning and Mancini will field his strongest possible team to ensure they progress to the next stage of the competition. Striker Carlos Tevez is expected to return after dealing with some personal problems that led to him missing the game against Southampton, while captain Vincent Kompany, Matija Nastasic and Kolo Toure could also return.
Leeds United will be out to collect another big scalp at Etihad Stadium on Saturday after knocking Tottenham out of the competition with a 2-1 win at Elland Road last month. Things have gone downhill for the Whites since then however, having failed to win any of their three subsequent fixtures. El-Hadji Diouf could return to the starting line-up after coming off the bench against Middlesbrough during the week.
City has reached the 5th round of the competition courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Stoke and a 3-0 success at home to Watford and is yet to concede a goal in the Cup despite their indifferent League form. Prior to its shock result against Spurs, Leeds knocked Birmingham out with a 2-1 victory at St Andrews in a 3rd round replay after the original tie ended in a draw .
