Doomben Racing Preview - December 7

Three Years Old Hcp (BR5)
Tony Gollan’s gelding Padrino is likely to contest the lead from barrier 14 and is beginning to make a habit of grinding away opposition for narrow victories scoring in his last two starts at Eagle Farm. He narrowly defeated Kalandula in his most recent outing and will drop to 54kg this time out. Flamboyer is another contender with early speed backing up from that contest and is likely to add more pressure up front wanting to lead from barrier 15. The intense speed battle up front could set this race up perfectly for a swooper.

Selections: Kalandula , Padrino , Flamboyer , Miss Husson

Benchmark 85 Handicap (BR6)
The White Hope was gallant in defeat first up and will go around a short-price favourite when he steps up to 1350m where he is two from two over track and distance and also unbeaten second up. All the stats suggest he will be extremely tough to beat on Saturday and it’s very hard to look past him here. His main rival, Congo, was scratched from competing on a heavy surface last weekend and can pressure The White Hope from barrier seven where he won his most recent start leading all the way. Written Above All will be better suited from barrier four after a negotiating a tough gate and finishing fifth from last position in his most recent start.

Selections: The White Hope , Congo , Written Above All , Vacallo

George Moore Stakes (BR7) - *$100,000 First4 jackpot*
Famous Seamus travels north for Noel Mayfield-Smith after running a credible third in the Heffernan Stakes at Caulfield in Group 3 company over 1200m. He will lump 60kgs and jump from barrier 16 in a bid to add to his impressive Queensland record where he saluted in last year’s Prime Minister’s Cup on the Gold Coast. The usual local suspects have been engaged headed by Kelly Schweida’s Cape Kidnappers who narrowly missed first place on a recent visit to Rosehill behind the highly-rated Heart Testa. He looks set to explode recording three wins and a second from four starts at Doomben and can box seat from barrier seven. Doubtfilly flew home for third in the listed Travel Associates at Doomben last weekend and boasts a solid record at this track.

Selections: Cape Kindnappers , Benny’s Buttons , Doubtfilly , Famous Seamus

Class 6 Plate (BR8)
Love Rocks upset highly-fancied galloper The White Hope when he made the most of a cheap lead at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago. He looks well placed with Anthony Allen in the saddle with a similar weight carried in his previous win. Tunahog was backed for plenty and got the cash first up at Doomben last start for Lawrie Mayfield-Smith. Doomben veteran Viking Heart was consistent last preparation but will have to overcome a poor first up record if he is to cause an upset. QFighter wasn’t suited by the blistering speed up front last start and steps back in grade and weight with apprentice jockey Tegan Harrison retaining the ride. Lucky Sound flew home behind Love Rocks in his most recent outing and can sit closer to the speed on this occasion for Beaudesert trainer Tony Crane. Expect him to be flying home.

Selections: Love Rocks , Lucky Sound , QFighter , Tunahog
