Queensland's 2013 Lotto Hotspots revealed!

Monday 30 December, 2013 - Imagine starting the New Year off with a bang as one of the nation’s newest millionaires! One of Golden Casket’s most highly anticipated events is fast approaching with the $30 Million Megadraw on 4 January 2014.

With a massive $30 million up for grabs, wouldn’t it be nice to begin the New Year with a division one win and join those fortunate Queenslanders who have already experienced that winning feeling?

Ahead of the Saturday Gold Lotto $30 Million Megadraw, Golden Casket has revealed official statistics on lotto wins which occurred in the year spanning 1 December 2012 to 1 December 2013.

In the 12-months to 1 December 2013, Queensland players scored 69 division one prizes across all lotto products from Golden Casket, equating to more than $65 million in division one prize money!

The latest statistics released by Golden Casket reveal that the coveted title of ‘Queensland’s 2013 Lotto Hotspot’ has been awarded to postcode 4870 (Cairns, Edge Hill, Whitfield and Earlville), where four (4) division one winning tickets were sold across all lotto games. Next in ‘Queensland’s 2013 Lotto Hotspot’ is postcodes 4217 (Benowa and Main Beach), 4000 (Brisbane CBD) and 4218 (Broadbeach and Mermaid Waters); each sold three (3) division one winning tickets in 12-months.

Queensland’s 2013 Lotto Hotspot Region’ was awarded to Brisbane and suburbs, with a total of 25 first division prizes sold in the area, totalling $22.6 million. This is followed by the Gold Coast with 14 division one lotto wins, ahead of Far North Queensland with 10 first division winners.

Along with the 69 division one winning lotto tickets purchased from Golden Casket retail outlets in Queensland, a further six (6) winning tickets were purchased from Tatts.com online, equating to more than $4.73 million in first division prize money.

The highest value prize won in Queensland between 1 December 2012 and 1 December 2013 was a Saturday Gold Lotto Mid-Year Megadraw prize worth $2.5 million with two winning tickets purchased in Springwood and Yamanto.

Golden Casket’s hotspot data is based on division one wins between 1 December 2012 and 1 December 2013. The recent record breaking $70 million Oz Lotto division one win on 17 December 2013 has put Runaway Bay’s postcode 4216 in a strong position for next year’s hotspot results!

Golden Casket spokesperson Belinda McDougall said that although postcode 4870 is the ‘Lotto Hotspot’ and Brisbane and suburbs is the ‘Lotto Hotspot Region’ for Queensland, it does not mean that a ticket purchased in either of those areas has more chance of winning than any other ticket.

“It’s exciting to reveal where the most lotto wins occur each year, but it’s important to remember that every number on your ticket has an equal chance of being drawn, no matter where you buy your ticket,” Ms McDougall added.

“This year, 21 Australians began 2013 as winners, each scoring $1.4 million in Saturday Gold Lotto’s $30 Million Megadraw. Four of those tickets were purchased in Queensland, so we hope to see many more Megadraw winners in the state on 4 January.

“Imagine the New Year’s resolutions you could achieve by winning a share in Saturday Gold Lotto’s $30 million Megadraw on 4 January!” Ms McDougall said.

Don’t forget to register your Megadraw ticket to your Winners Circle card to ensure Golden Casket can contact you should you be one of the fortunate division one winners.
