Inspirational skipper, Alessandro Del Piero, and former Socceroo, Brett Emerton, are expected to return for Sydney FC when it hosts bottom team, Melbourne Heart , Sunday afternoon at Allianz Stadium. Del Piero has overcome a hamstring injury which kept him out of last weekend’s 1-0 loss to champions Central Coast. Plagued by a nagging back injury, this would be Emerton’s first outing of the season.

The Sky Blues are looking to bounce back after the defeat in Gosford ended a run of four straight. That streak included a 2-0 victory over Heart in Melbourne in mid-November. However, Sydney’s record overall record against Heart isn’t flash – it has won just two of 10 meetings.

Though Heart players and fans may have taken small comfort from recent honourable draws against Adelaide and the Wanderers in rounds 8 & 9, the truth is the under-performing side has a winless run which stretches 14 A-League matches (4 draws, 10 losses). They also have another unwanted stat – the worst accuracy in the competition, with just 31% of their shots hitting the target this season. With only four points from a possible 27, Heart coach John Aloisi is under mounting pressure to turn around the club’s fortunes.
