Heart Desperate To Show Some Ticker

The rudderless Melbourne Heart is in dire need of a win with Coach John Aloisi’s job hanging by a thread, after managing just 3 goals and no wins so far this season. His superiors have publically given him their support, but if they fall to an underperforming Adelaide United side, their patience will surely be wearing thin.

Aloisi can take solace in the fact that his team has never lost six in a row, but Heart have only won twice in their short history against Adelaide. Reds boss Josep Gombau has his own streak to end; he’s yet to taste victory away from home in the A-League.

This match is set to be fought out in the final third; Heart lacks any creativity to feed their attack out of midfield, with the terrier-like Massimo Murdocca in real need of a creative partner. Harry Kewell was listed to return but will miss another week after pulling up sore after training. He would have been a handy inclusion against a Reds defence missing Jon McKain (illness), but welcoming back Antony Golec. In contrast, Adelaide has creativity coming out of the centre circle in the form of Marcelo Carrusca and Steve Lustica, but their finishing has left a lot to be desired.
