Doomben Racing Preview - November 30

Travel Associates Classic (BR5)

Liam Birchley’s mare Liesele returns to Brisbane after a successful Spring Carnival campaign claiming the listed Alinghi Stakes at Caulfield. She enjoys racing at Doomben scoring two wins and one minor placing over track and distance and will relish a good track with the rail in the true position. Doubtfilly heads into this contest after resuming behind Better Than Ready a fortnight ago, however, traditionally performs later in her preparations having not registered a second-up win in her career. She will carry top weight from barrier nine with premiership-winning jockey Michael Cahill in the saddle. The lightly raced Words Are Weapons travels north from Sydney for Sam Kavanagh and has solid form through highly-rated gelding Field Marshall and is every chance of heading home with a win, while Lady Echelon has drawn perfectly getting barrier one and has registered one win and a second from two first-up performances.

Selections: Words Are Weapons , Lady Echelon , Liesele , Doubtfilly

3YO Handicap (BR6)

Into The Red resumes for Kelso Wood after a disappointing Sydney autumn and won’t have any favours from barrier 16. He dominated Brisbane opposition before heading south for a Golden Rose campaign where he never replicated his Brisbane form, and it will be interesting to see how he resumes after a strong trial. Lightly-raced filly Missing Page won impressively in her first Saturday start and can add to her growing record of three wins from four starts with in-form jockey Ric McMahon on board. Choose A Saga was a consistent performer over the Winter Carnival and heads into this contest first-up on the way to the Magic Millions Guineas while Reframe from the Desleigh Forster stable is likely to lead from barrier 12 and is a big chance in this one.

Selections: Missing Page , Reframe , Into The Red , Choose A Saga

Recognition Stakes (BR7) - *$154,000 TattsBet TRIFECTA jackpot*

Black Cash returns to Queensland after a strong Spring campaign when he won the Greys race on Melbourne Cup Day carrying 60kg. He drops 4kg on this occasion and can feature heavily from barrier eight. Robert Heathcoate’s stellar season continued when Fillydelphia won impressively at Eagle Farm two weeks ago stepping up to 1400m and she can win again over the mile where she has recorded two wins and three placings from eight starts. Listen Son will have to work early to lead from barrier sixteen and could set up the race for a swooper. Dolly Dolly headed south over the Spring Carnival without success and will be well suited back at this level with 54kgs. She is a great chance of causing an upset at big odds. Absalon has tasted success at Doomben before and is one from one over 1600m.

Selections: Absalon , Fillydelphia , Black Cash , Dolly Dolly

Class 6 Handicap (BR8)

Another race this Saturday where speed has drawn wide and will need to work early to gain a position, Congo led all the way at Eagle Farm his last start and has been freshened up for this assignment. Venture On finished in second place on that occasion and looks well in at the weights with a claim of 2kgs from apprentice jockey Aidan Holt. He finished a luckless second in his previous start and will appreciate a solid tempo from barrier one. Chalupa has been working his way through the grades nicely this preparation after dominating his opposition at Eagle Farm earlier this month for Gympie based trainer Kerry Munce.

Selections: Chalupa , Venture On , Congo , Pretty Gully
